USA’S FUTURE CRICKETERS COACHING DEVELOPMENT FUND

HELPING USA’S BEST YOUNG CRICKETING TALENT WORK WITH COACH PETER WELLINGS.

WHAT IS THIS DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR ?
Helping America’s best young cricketing talent to work with Coach Peter Wellings with the aim of preparing them to represent USA U19s and the Senior Teams. The fund seeks donors & investors who have American Cricket at heart.
  • Money raised will be used to pay for Coach Wello to work with our best young players; particularly those where family income may inhibit access to regular professional coaching.
  • The fund will represent an investment in the future of young people with cricket as the vehicle for them achieving something in their lives.
  • The fund will be aimed at young cricketers with both the talent and commitment to playing for USA.
  • Coach Wello has worked with many high-ability young cricketers who have the desire to play for the U.S but not the financial means to train & maximise their talent. The fund will alleviate that problem.
  • Coach Wello has regular conversations with USA National Team Coach Pubudu Dassanayake discussing who our best young cricketers are and how best to train them. The fund will help us find more of them.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT ?

Coach Wello will be paid for his time working in Texas and around the USA. Travel expenses and accommodation will be factored in if needed and also facility hire including grass wickets – crucial to developing our best young players.

Some examples:

  • USA U19s Combines Player Majid Zubair aged 16 from Austin, Texas. Majid is a rare talent who’s eligible for the next U19 World Cup but with virtually no experience playing on grass wickets. The fund will pay for grass wicket rental and 1-1 time with Coach Wello.
  • USA U19s Combines Player Joshua Kind aged 15 from Kansas City, Missouri. Joshua has limited access to cricket in Kansas City so the fund will enable him to come to Texas to work with Coach Wello or him to travel there.
  • As the fund grows it will be used for any activity that enhances the development of America’s young cricketing talent. Coach Wello believes it’s vital our best young players get more exposure to top-level cricket, especially on grass wickets.
This year our U19s failed to qualify for the 2018 U19 World Cup on net run rate. I followed the final game against Canada ball by ball and found myself disconsolate that we hadn’t made it. With such small margins determining sporting success it’s vital we increase the work we’re doing with our best young players.
